And we are back ... sadly not operating at full potential this morning. We've been sidelined by numerous events and we're still feeling somewhat comatose. I think this is what you would call the "after party" effects. It's not like we were party hopping or dancing the night away, but I'm referring to the "after the party-planning" effects when the party is actually over and you're the last person standing at 1 am with a vacuum on one hand.
Suffice to say, it's been a whirlwind experience. Party planning is definitely something I'd be glad to pass on to someone more knowledgeable and experienced. It's not for the faint of heart or for someone who is lacking in their time-management skills (which something I felt I was guilty of). In the end, perhaps it was too big of an occasion to leave up to me. I was a rookie.
My advice to parents thinking of throwing an 18th birthday party for their kid - don't! Instead, I suggest you go ahead and hire people to plan the event for you. You will have a much better time!
As for me, I am still digging myself out of the entire pink decor and trying to figure out which part of my garage they will be stored in for future events. The party was a success and I'm still game for smaller parties but the take-away from this latest shindig is to make sure I personally get to enjoy it as well.
So pardon us if we seem to be procrastinating the last few days. We're still in the process of downloading photos and generally, wrapping our minds around the magnitude of cleanup we still need to do. We will get there for sure, so stay tuned for party photos, vendor lists and recommendations.
